Clients I Support
If you’ve been carrying more than you can hold, I want you to know—you don’t have to do this alone. Many of my clients come to me feeling tired of holding it all together, unsure of where to start, but ready for something to change. If you’re learning to trust again, wanting to understand yourself on a deeper level, or just looking for tools to feel more grounded day to day—I’m here to walk with you. Together, we’ll move at your pace and find strategies that truly fit your life.
About
Hi, I’m Karla. I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and the founder of Steady Grounds Therapy in California.
I know what it’s like to feel uprooted. As an immigrant from Central America, I’ve experienced the challenges of starting over and searching for stability in the midst of uncertainty. Those experiences shaped how I show up as a therapist—with compassion, cultural awareness, and a deep respect for your story.
In therapy, I won’t rush you or pressure you. My role is to create a safe space where you feel seen and understood, while helping you build resilience and reconnect with the strengths you already carry. My hope is that our work together helps you feel more steady, grounded, and aligned with the life you want to live.
For more than a decade, I’ve had the privilege of working with children, teens, and adults across different settings—homes, schools, hospitals, and community programs. I’ve supported people facing trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, and big life transitions.
Through it all, one thing has stayed constant: I believe healing starts with connection. My approach combines evidence-based methods with trauma-informed and culturally responsive care—so that therapy is not only effective, but also deeply personal to you.
Beyond the Sessions
Family is at the center of my life and my work. I'm married and a proud mother of two children, and we share our home with two dogs who bring both joy and calm to our days. In my free time, I enjoy reading, getting lost in botanical gardens, and giving back by donating resources to my children’s school.
I also share clinical insights on my social media page to help break the stigma around mental health and create space for healing in our communities.
